The fourth annual Beaumont Art League Student Show will open Nov. 14.
Submissions are open to students currently enrolled at Lamar University, Lamar State College-Orange and Lamar State College-Port Arthur. There is no entry fee and students may submit up to three works.
Submission drop-off days include Nov. 4-5 from noon to 5 p.m. and Nov. 6-7 from noon to 7 p.m.
“When you create artwork, you take a little part of yourself and the way you see life and you show it to all of the public,” Matthew Beer, BAL director, said. “That’s just a huge honor to share that hard work to everyday people. They all come here to love and support all of our community artists.”
Beer said there are multiple criteria that the judge may look at when ranking works.
“Presentation is always a big one — finished hanging work,” Beer said. “They also look at techniques, the composition, how well the color theory is and also, when you walk in, do you feel something? That’s the biggest thing, and that’s where our community comes in — they walk in, they feel something and then they want to buy it.”
Students also receive a free one-year student membership for the BAL with their entries.
The BAL Student Show will be on display through Jan. 2. BAL is located at 2675 Gulf St. For more, visit beaumontartleague.us.
