Final voting data from the Student Government Association election shows 865 total ballots cast across all races. Elizabeth Jeanes, marketing manager for the division of student affairs, said participation was up from previous years.
In the presidential race, Carsen Barrett secured the position with 258 votes, defeating Ethan Ellis, who received 109. A total of 367 ballots were cast in the race.
Briley O’Connor ran unopposed for vice president and received 327 votes.
Ashton Rainey also ran unopposed for senior class senator, earning 64 votes.
The junior class senator race was the most contested of the class positions. Elizabeth Brankin won with 61 votes, defeating Julian Blanco, who received 14. A total of 75 ballots were cast in that race.
Brittanny Sherman, running unopposed for sophomore class senator, received 38 votes.
While overall turnout reached 865 ballots, participation varied by race, with some students choosing not to vote in every category. Contested races, particularly the presidential and junior senator elections, drew the highest levels of engagement.
As no one declared as candidate for SGA secretary, the position will be appointed by the executive cabinet. The appointment is expected to take place soon, though an exact timeline has not been announced and will be determined by the incoming administration.
The newly elected SGA officers will officially take office on July 1.
