Renovations continue at Gray Library
Construction continues at Gray Library with January 2027 scheduled for its reopening. The $90-million renovation project that began in the fall 2024 is on schedule and going well, library dean Vivienne McClendon said.
“We are excited by the progress of the renovation, and we can’t wait to show students the new features and upgrades we have made,” she said.
The library renovations are aimed at centralizing student resources and creating a more welcoming environment, McClendon said.
“We have added resources that used to not be in the library, like STARS and an IT help desk, so students can better access the help they need,” she said. “We wanted the space to feel more welcoming to students, so we added large windows for more natural light and more lounge areas with extra seating options.”
The renovations go far beyond the surface level, McClendon said.
“The Wi-Fi is 10-times stronger than before, and all of our facilities are ADA-compliant again,” she said. “It really has been a dramatic change.”
While the official deadline for work is January 2027, officials hope construction efforts will allow for an opening as soon as mid-fall, McClendon said.
