The semester may be coming to a close, but the Christmas spirit is alive and well in Beaumont in December.
The Beaumont Convention and Visitor’s Bureau lists multiple Christmas events happening this season.
The annual downtown tree lighting is set for today.
“The tree lightings are really fun because you get to see how there really is something for everybody to do in Beaumont, whether it’s little kids, families, teenagers, college students or a single adult, it doesn’t matter,” Ainsley Thompson, Beaumont CVB marketing manager, said. “They all have a blast at events like that, and it’s really cool to see the whole community come together, no matter your age or where you’re from.”
This year’s tree lighting will include a drone show and multiple DJ performances, Thompson said.
“It’s pretty crazy,” she said. “The Christmas tree is huge, and it’s really awesome to get to see it lit up for the first time.”
The Beaumont Art Museum tree lighting is set for Dec. 4.
“All of these are really great because they’re very family friendly,” Thompson said. “But I think it’s a great thing for college students to do, too. Just get a group of friends and go out there and bundle up. There’s going to be activities for everybody.”
The John Jay French Museum will host a candlelight tour, Dec. 6. Karli Stansbury, Beaumont Heritage Society’s Museum Educator, said the organization is thrilled to welcome the community back to the Christmas Candlelight Tour. =
“This event is a way for families to connect with Beaumont’s past and celebrate the season together,” she said. “From the cozy candlelit tour of the historic French home to festive crafts and caroling, there’s something here to make everyone’s holiday a bit more magical.”
The Chambers House Museum will host a vintage holiday and Christmas market on Dec. 11.
“It’s actually a vendor market, so there will be a lot of shopping to do there,” Thompson said. “They have little small businesses from all over and they all come out and set up a big vendor square. It’s really beautiful.
“It’s so awesome to see that we’ve always had the festive spirit here in Beaumont, and I love getting to see how that was portrayed 180 years ago at these historic houses.”
The Jefferson Theatre will showing Christmas movies through the month of December.
