Second seed and Southland Tournament host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi rallied for two second half goals to defeat the Cardinals, 2-1, Nov. 6, in the opening round of the tournament. The Cardinals' season comes to an end at 5-8-6 overall.

Anneliese Switzer scored in the 20th minute of the match on a pass from Trinity Clark to give Lamar the early lead. The Cardinals finished with 14 shots in the match with Caragan Childs leading with four while Switzer posted three. Taylor Howard started in goal for the Cardinals and finished with two saves on the night.

The Cardinals started the match on the offensive and controlled the first half with an 8-3 shots advantage. It wasn't until the 14th minute when Clark fed Switzer, who scored with her right and provided a 1-0 lead. Corpus Christi was held without a shot for the first 17 minutes before Howard snagged her first save in the 18th. Islander goalkeeper Zoe Theriot kept her squad in the match with three crucial saves over the final 27 minutes as LU led 1-0 at the break.

Once the second half started, Corpus Christi shifted the momentum toward its favor as the Islanders found the equalizer in the 63rd minute. Three minutes later, Corpus Christi drew a penalty in the box and converted for the lead. The Cardinals' best chance to level the match was a 71st-minute shot that hit the crossbar from Childs. LU would have to finish the game with 10 players following a red card, but still had one crack to tie before the final whistle blew.
