Lamar University’s Career and Professional Development hosted the AniMeals Pet Kickoff, Oct. 31, in the Galloway Business Building. The Halloween-themed event featured pets, treats and fun.
LU partners with a different organization each semester and AniMeals, a program with Meals on Wheels, is the organization partnership for the fall semester.
“We have previously done AniMeals as our service project,” Amy Dillow, career consultant at the Center for Career and Professional Development, said. “We have found that our Lamar community very much supports it, because I think most people have a heart for animals.”
Students and faculty at the event were treated to cookies and cupcakes, and were encouraged to donate cat and dog food. The AniMeals program passes out the food to seniors who may not be able to afford food for their pets.
“This is just our kickoff to get the campaign rolling, but we are doing this for the remainder of the semester," Dillow said. “We receive a lot of donations, and the staff with Meals on Wheels is always pleased with our donations.”
The Center for Career and Professional Development will be accepting wet or dry dog and cat donations in 102 Galloway Building.
