The Lady Cardinal volleyball team lost 3-0 to Southern Louisiana, Oct. 17, in Southland Conference action in McDonald Gym.
In the first set, Lamar and USL traded points until an attack error from the Cardinals put the Lions in the lead from where they took the set, 25-18.
In the second set, the Lions gained the upper hand right off the bat, winning 25-17.

The Lady Cardinals started the third set strong with a quick two points before the Lions took over. They made 12 points before being eventually overpowered by the Lions winning, 25-18.
Lyric Jordan ended with seven kills and one block on the night. Emily Moon had six kills and two blocks, and Alexa Gonzalez contributed assists. Maja Malinowska recorded six kills, two aces, one assist, and eight digs.
Head coach Ariel Apolinario said the team lacks consistency.
“We have moments — we have moments on offense, we have moments on defense,” head coach Ariel Apolinario said. “But I think that’s definitely kind of what’s missing right now, especially when we play in the better teams. We just can’t choose to do one or the other. We have to be a little bit more consistent.”
Apolinario said the team is continuously learning and growing, but is still not at the level to play with the top teams.
“I think tonight was the perfect example,” he said. “We have some really good moments and we struggle at moments. But when we struggle, we pay for it.”
The Lady Cardinals are 2-6 in the Southland Conference (10-10 overall), and sit in 10th place.
The Lady Cardinals will play New Orleans in McDonald Gym at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 19, before hitting the road to play SFA at 6 p.m., Oct. 22. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN.
