The Setzer Student Center hosted a world Mental Health Day event, Oct. 10. SETX Samaritan Counseling, Triangle Area Network Healthcare, the Spindletop Center and the Baptist Health Network were a few of the organizations represented.

Kayla Tiller, manager of Psychological Program Services at Baptist Behavioral, said the event is an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health and resource organizations.

“We’re out here just to let people know what resources are available, we want to connect with the audience and students that are here,” she said. “It's also great from a community perspective to have an opportunity to have a discussion with people.”

The organizations’ tables featured stress balls, pens, and fliers giving information on outreach and phone numbers for people in crisis.

Aaron Nichols, Spindletop Center Marketing and PR administrator, said the turnout exceeded his expectations.

“We actually had to refill our table with stress balls, it was really cool,” he said.
