Neches Federal Credit Union will host its latest Financial Literacy seminar at 2:30 p.m., Oct. 24, in the Setzer Student Center Neches Room.

The seminar, conducted by Charlee Fitzgerald, aims to provide students with knowledge and tools they need to make informed financial decisions.

“This seminar is titled Money Concepts 101. Students can learn key financial concepts, how to set clear financial goals, and how to create a plan to achieve them,” Charlee Fitzgerald, NFCU Community Impact Officer, said.

Refreshments will be provided and there will be a giveaway for all who attend.

The seminar is the latest in a series of talks conducted by the credit union. All the seminars are free to attend and are open to all students at Lamar University. Registration is required and students should sign up at nechesfcu.org.

Neches Federal Credit Union’s Campus Connect MSR, Crystal Jordan, said the event is an extension of NFCU’s partnership as the Official Credit Union of Lamar University. The seminars are in collaboration with LU Money Management to spread financial literacy across campus and throughout the community.

Rylee Miller, Port Neches junior, attended the previous seminar on the psychology of spending.

“I learned a lot and had a fun time,” Miller said. “I am looking forward to the upcoming seminar over money concepts, I heard it is going to be a good one to go to.”

Fitzgerald said she encourages students to take advantage of this opportunity the university offers.

“It is a great way to ask financial questions that students may have in an environment that is relaxed and comfortable” she said.

Additional financial literacy seminars are scheduled for the semester. A complete list may be found at nechesfcu.org. Click resources, then click on Lamar University.
