Lamar University’s LUTV will hold auditions for news anchors, Feb. 2, at the LUTV studio from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Gordon Williams, television studio operations manager, said the program is looking for two sets of anchors, one for the main show and one for their web content.

“We are hoping to start producing content the week after, so we’ll make quick decisions as far as anchors,” he said. “You don't have to be a communications major. You can come from across the campus if you have an interest in broadcasting news or television.

“(Students auditioning) will come in and read scripts for news and sports and then for weather — they will have to adlib a seven-day forecast.”

The auditions will be judged by Williams, along with professionals in television, production, and a former producer who works in public relations.

“We wanted to bring in professionals, because I think it's important for students to have those interactions with them,” Williams said.

Those auditioning are required to dress professionally.
