Seniors of 52 to Have 1st Lamar Tech Rings

L. G. Balfour company of Attleboro, Mass., world’s largest school jewelers and manufacturers of more than 50 per cent of all college rings in the nation, has been awarded a five-year contract to manufacture senior class rings for Lamar Tech, it has been announced.

Dies on the Lamar Tech ring, first the college has ever had, are now being made and samples will be available in the near future, according to George Ramsey, Balfour representative.

Rings will be sold through the campus bookstore.

Rings will come in four different sizes for men and two for women with a choice of stones offered to both. Either synthetic ruby of blue spinel stones will be available.

Men’s rings will be in 8, 10, 12 and 14 pennyweight sizes priced at $37.32, $39.12, $42.72 and $45.12 respectively. Women’s rings will be in four and six pennyweights priced at $27.90 and $30.30. Prices include federal 20 per cent tax. Rings will be initialed and resized, if necessary, at no charge.

Students will make a $5 down payment on order. A Balfour representative will assist in taking orders this year.

Pointing out that stone prices are now at a peak, the Balfour company said any reduction in cost of stones will be passed along to students. It also reserves the right to raise prices if stones go any higher.

Ring designs were chosen from several submitted by different companies by a committee of students working with Norris Kelton, dean of student life.
