Lamar University had 53 student-athletes named to the 2022 Spring Academic All-Western Athletic Conference team announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. The team consisted of student-athletes from baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field.
For the entire academic year, the Cardinals placed 89 student-athletes on the 2021-22 Fall and Spring Academic All-WAC teams – a year that saw LU graduate 55 student-athletes.
To be nominated for the All-Academic squad, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year at their nominating institution, be a starter or significant reserve (playing in at least 50 percent of the team's competition), while maintaining a 3.2 grade-point average.
The Cardinals' All-Academic selections consisted of 18 from baseball, eight from women's track and field, seven from softball, six from men's tennis, five from men's track and field, four from women's tennis, three from men's golf and two from women's golf.
