After a two-month long search, Nathan Kogut has been hired as head coach of the Lamar University soccer program.
Lamar’s interim Director of Athletics, Helene Thill, made the official announcement, April 19. “We are very excited about the direction of our department under his leadership,” Thill said.
Kogut has over 20 years of coaching experience, most recently serving five years as a volunteer assistant coach with Texas A&M University. During his tenure, the Aggies posted an overall record of 50-23-6.
In that five-year span, Texas A&M won a Southeastern Conference regular-season title and SEC tournament title, also making three appearances in the NCAA tournament. The Aggies reached the second round three times, the Sweet Sixteen twice and the Elite Eight once.
In 2020-2021, Texas A&M was awarded Southeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year. Kogut has also coached 12 All-SEC selections and three National Womens’ Soccer League draft picks.
“I am so excited to be at an institution that wants to recruit top student-athletes, compete for championships, and provide the full student-athlete experience,” Kogut said in a statement. “The more I looked into Lamar and Beaumont, the more exciting this opportunity became, and I look forward to continuing the process of competing for WAC and Southland Conference Championships.”
