SGA run-off elections to take place Wednesday, Thursday

The Lamar Student Government Association is holding run-off elections for the fall 2020 semester officer positions. The elections will open April 22 at 8 a.m. and close at April 23 at 5 p.m.

To vote, students can go to their self-serve banner, click on "student," then select on "Vote on SGA election." 

Three officer positions are availble to vote on — president, vice president and junior class senator.

The candidates for president are Katey McCall, political science major, and Trevion Wilson, mechanical engineering major.

McCall's platform points are to strengthen Cardinal spirit, foster transparency and SGA awareness, enhance safety and accessibility, improve campus sustainability and amplitfying students' voices.

Wilson's platform points are amplifying students' voices, student action, students being able to see SGA results, creating a more inclusive community at Lamar and committing to servicing the Lamar community.

For vice president, Tyler Martin, mechanical engineering major, and Jasmine Patin, sociology major are running.

Martin's platform points are strengthening Cardinal spirit, fostering SGA transparency and awareness, enhancing campus safety and accessibility, improving campus sustainability and amplifying students' voices.

Patin's platform points are amplifying students' voices, student action, students being able to see SGA results, creating a more inclusive community at Lamar and committing to servicing the Lamar community.

Maurio Stevens, computer science major, and David Williams, mechanical engineering major, are the candidates for junior class senator.

Stevens' platform points are amplifying students' voices, student action, students being able to see SGA results, creating a more inclusive community at Lamar and committing to servicing the Lamar community.

Williams' platform points are to strengthen Cardinal spirit, increase cultural competency by actively engaging with marginalized demographics and making sure their voices are heard, improve and encourage leadership and campus engagement, invite speakers on diversity and inclusion, foster transparency and SGA awareness, enhance safety and accessibility, improve campus sustainability and amplifying students' voices.
