The Setzer Student Center 2011-2012 Co-Sponsorship Initiative is sponsoring funding to attend the 8th Annual Sam Houston State University Diversity Leadership Conference, "Bonded At The Root" on Feb.11, at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

For more information on this conference visit their website at www.shsu.edu/dlc.

Members of the Sam Houston State University Diversity Council felt that there was a need to have a conference in the State of Texas that targeted college students' concerns and issues regarding diversity.  This conference was the first of it's kind in the state of Texas and is sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services and the student based Diversity Council .

The mission of the Diversity Leadership Conference is to provide an equal opportunity environment within the Sam Houston State University campus, the State of Texas and surrounding areas that promotes diversity in all aspects of life.  Through the annual Diversity Leadership Conference, the council strives to educate students, professors, and higher education professionals alike in an effort to eliminate stereotypes and discrimination.  Join us and be inspired by the keynote speakers, interactive presentations and workshop sessions.

This year's theme, "Diversity and Leadership: Bonded at The Root" will introduce intriguing topics that will educate all individuals in attendance.    We are currently accepting applications for this awesome diversity leadership experience.  We are encouraging emerging student leaders to apply to attend this training opportunity.

Application Forms for the 8th Annual Sam Houston State University Diversity  Leadership Conference will be due on Tuesday, January 31st by 5:00 pm on OrgSync.  After submitting your application on OrgSync and you have been selected to attend the leadership training,  you must stop by the Setzer Student Center, Room 212 to complete the Lamar University Waiver of Liability, Hold Harmless and Assumption of Risk Agreement Form, the Emergency Release Form and submit your Lamar University student identification card  and Driver's License for verification purposes.
