PEOPLE: Tip of the Hat

Fred Senigal likes hats. Seriously, he really likes hats. If you are looking for a specific hat, Fred's your go-to man. "Hats are my trademark," he says. "My dad always wore hats and now I do." Fred has hats for every season and for special occasions. He also sells them, although he doesn't have a business, he sells them through word of mouth. Fred says if he doesn't have the hat you want, he knows where to find it, making frequent trips to outlets in Houston. Hats are not the only things that set Fred apart from the average student. The self-professed "Boomer" is a freshman at Lamar University, majoring in physical therapy. Fred said he decided to go back to school after taking a random IQ test. "My body's getting old but my mind's still sharp. You have to use what you got to get what you want — and that's why I'm here." Fred is a testament that you're never too old to throw your hat in the ring.
