During the winter break, Lamar's basketball teams stayed busy, playing 18 games combined. Over that span, the men went 6-4 (3-2), putting them in first place in the east division of the SLC. Guard Mike James received the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award three times.
The Lady Cards ended the break with a record of 4-4 (1-3), placing them in fourth place in the east division of the SLC. Foward Kalis Loyd moved into eighth place on Lamar women's basketball all-time scoring list. Loyd received the Southland Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 25-31.
