Lamar University's Beatrice Douglas (Silsbee) set a school record for the women's indoor pentathlon at the Birmingham Invitational on Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala.
Douglas finished seventh with a total of 3,345 points. She tied for first in the high jump in the pentathlon competition with an effort of 5 feet, 7 inches, the second-best jump in school history.
In her other events, Douglas posted a time of 9.21 seconds for the 60-meter high hurdles, placed 14th in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 8.25 inches, took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet and had a time of 2:44.07 for the 800 meters.
The competition concludes today in Birmingham with a full slate of events
