LIT enrollment declined slightly from spring 2011
Enrollment for the spring semester at Lamar Institute of Technology has declined slightly from last spring. "We're a little more than a hundred students down from last spring," Beth Miller, director of public information and marketing, said. "It happens here a lot.

Lamar names 911 students to Deans’ List for fall 2011
BEAUMONT, Texas—A total of 911 Lamar University students earned places on the Deans' List for the 2011 fall semester, deans of Lamar's five academic colleges announced. To qualify for the Deans' List, a student must carry a full course load of 12 semester hours or more and have a grade point average of 3.

LU enrollment sees slight decrease
Head count dropped 0.95 percent, from 13,905 students last spring to 13,773 — a difference of 132 students. Semester credit hours declined from 139,730 last spring to 138,225, which is a 1.08 percent drop.

Advisement center puts students on path to success
LU is creating an undergraduate advisement center that will provide registration, scheduling activities and referrals to student services for any student with 60 or fewer hours and for transfer students.

The Lamar University Department of History will host its third annual Texas History Day onThursday, Feb. 23, attracting students from high schools and middle schools across Southeast Texas. Lamar's event is part of National History Day 2012, whose theme is "Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.

Conference of Texas Statisticians scheduled Mar. 2-3
The Lamar University Department of Mathematics is hosting the annual Conference of Texas Statisticians (COT) March 2-3 in the Science Auditorium on the LU campus. The conference was established at the annual American Statistical Association meeting in Houston in 1980.

Nursing simulation lab open house scheduled Feb. 17
The Lamar University JoAnne Gay Dishman Department of Nursing will host an open house at the High-Fidelity Simulation Center in the Mamie McFadden Ward building Feb. 17 from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited to tour the state-of-the-art nursing simulation facility designed to emulate the actual hospital environment nursing majors will encounter upon graduation.
